{"id":3275,"date":"2020-01-15T23:10:00","date_gmt":"2020-01-16T04:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/old.nysacc.org\/?p=3275"},"modified":"2020-06-20T14:29:39","modified_gmt":"2020-06-20T18:29:39","slug":"a-very-fond-farewell","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/old.nysacc.org\/?p=3275","title":{"rendered":"A Very Fond Farewell and Welcome!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Dear Friends,<\/p>\n<p>It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to serve as the President of NYSACC for the last 30 years. &nbsp;I want to welcome Simon Skolnik, Chair of the Town of Bedford Conservation Board and former NYSACC Vice President, into his new position as President of our fine organization. &nbsp;For 25 years, he has been my steadfast supporter. &nbsp;We are lucky to have him, with his fresh ideas and clear vision for NYSACC. &nbsp;He will bring us a wonderful Conference this year in Westchester. &nbsp;The NYSACC Board of Directors has bestowed upon me the honorable title of President Emeritus. &nbsp;I am glad to continue in this new role.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/old.nysacc.org\/wp-uploads\/Presidents-Message.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-3277 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/old.nysacc.org\/wp-uploads\/Presidents-Message.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"549\" height=\"327\" srcset=\"https:\/\/old.nysacc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Presidents-Message.png 2808w, https:\/\/old.nysacc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Presidents-Message-300x179.png 300w, https:\/\/old.nysacc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Presidents-Message-1024x610.png 1024w, https:\/\/old.nysacc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Presidents-Message-768x457.png 768w, https:\/\/old.nysacc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Presidents-Message-1536x915.png 1536w, https:\/\/old.nysacc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Presidents-Message-2048x1219.png 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 549px) 100vw, 549px\" \/><\/a>I&#8217;ve become sentimental about my time with NYSACC, especially as I look over old editions of NYSACC News. &nbsp;Here, you can see my first President&#8217;s Message, from January 1990.<\/p>\n<p>I was surprised to read that many of the environmental issues that plagued New York State in 1990 remain equally concerning today. &nbsp;But now we have added a bigger issue: climate change. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Our country isn\u2019t where I\u2019d like it to be environmentally, and I wish we were making a positive impact on the world\u2019s environment. &nbsp;We must continue to do our part in our municipalities and hope to see an impact in our backyard.&nbsp; And when we are given the opportunity, we must be loud and be seen because, as we all know, the stakes are too high to fail. &nbsp;We are the eyes and ears of the environment in New York State.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m proud of the wonderful people who devote their time and talents to NYSACC. &nbsp;I especially want to thank\u2026.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>Peter Rizzo<\/strong>, NYSACC Advisor<\/em>. &nbsp;Peter deserves a debt of gratitude for all of the time and expertise he has afforded NYSACC. &nbsp;He designs, formats, and distributes our newsletter and maintains our informative website. &nbsp;Even when he moved out of New York State, he still continued to support our organization. &nbsp;We love you Pete!<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Arlene Kaufman<\/strong>, former Office Manager &amp;
